Depicts the amount of sugar a woman consumes throughout her day through various sugary beverages. Toward the end she is depicted lying in a hospital bed, debilitated by disease stemming from sugar intake. The narrator informs the audience that sugary drinks add up, and can bring on obesity which can cause Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and even some cancers. Closing narration and text states that especially now government policy is needed to reduce sugary drinks consumption.
Voiceover: Does this look familiar? There’s the breakfast fruit drink (Text: breakfast fruit drink: 10 teaspoons of sugar). The long ride to work energizer (Text: energy drink: 14 teaspoons of sugar). The mid-morning quencher (flavored water: 6 teaspoons of sugar). And, the sodas at dinner time (two glasses of soda at dinner: 20 teaspoons of sugar a day). But that many sugary drinks a day, add up to 50 teaspoons of sugar. And could bring on obesity which can lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and even some cancers. Are we drinking ourselves sick? Especially now, we need government policy to reduce sugary drinks consumption for a healthy Barbados.
